Scholarships

Every year the Richard Mauthe Center provides two scholarships to deserving students and encourage everyone to apply. Please print out the documents using the links below and return it to the center before the due date.

The Rev. Dr. David Steffenson Endowed Scholarship

The Rev. Dr. David Steffenson Endowed Scholarship for Environmental Policy and Ethics was established in 2010 to honor Rev. Steffenson's 17 years of service to University of Wisconsin-Green Bay students and the Mauthe Center.
 
The Steffenson Scholarship will be awarded to a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay student in good academic standing who is seeking a degree in Environmental Policy, Environmental Science and/or other majors related to environmental ethics. The recipient must demonstrate financial need, good character, passion and dedication to the environment and a commitment to obtaining their degree in the chosen field. 

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Any undergraduate student who is enrolled full time at UWGB and is at least sophomore standing at the time of application for the scholarship.

  • The student shall have evidenced a strong character and demonstrated involvement in activities which promote social justice, interfaith understanding and the pursuit of personal spirituality. A personal statement no longer than two double spaced pages (12 point font and 1” margins) should reflect these qualities.  

  • The student shall have demonstrated academic success as evidenced by a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • The student shall provide two supporting references: One reference from a faculty, staff or administrative employee from UWGB and a second from a person familiar with the student’s character, spiritual or faith development.

  • The student should be willing to commit to doing 100 hours of service at The Mauthe Center-UWGB during the academic year that the scholarship was awarded.

Scholarship

The Rev. Richard Mauthe Scholarship was established in 1991 to recognize Mauthe’s nearly 30 years of work in campus ministry.

 

Each year, the Ecumenical Center Foundation awards a scholarship to a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay student who is in good standing and lives out the Mauthe Center’s mission of exploring faith, nurturing spiritual life, promoting social justice and serving others.
